Blepharoplasty| Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is a cosmetic and functional procedure designed to correct imperfections of the upper and lower eyelids. By removing excess skin, fatty deposits or correcting drooping tissue, this surgery rejuvenates the eye area and can also improve peripheral vision when skin laxity becomes severe.

It is one of the most requested facial procedures among both men and women, due to its natural results, relatively quick recovery, and overall rejuvenating effect on the face.

Dr. Fiorese has extensive experience in this field, having performed thousands of eyelid surgeries throughout his career. His expertise, combined with an artistic eye and refined surgical technique, ensures long-lasting, natural, and harmonious results for each patient.

This is a highly customizable procedure tailored to the patient’s specific needs. It may involve:

  • Upper blepharoplasty: removing excess skin and fat from the upper eyelids.
  • Lower blepharoplasty: correcting under-eye bags, lax skin or deep creases.
  • Full blepharoplasty: combining both upper and lower procedures.

In some cases, eyelid surgery can be combined with a brow lift or other aesthetic procedures to achieve a balanced and harmonious result.

  • A more youthful, rested appearance
  • Removal of puffiness and drooping eyelid skin
  • Improved visual field in selected cases
  • A brighter, more alert gaze
  • Reduced sensation of heaviness and tiredness around the eyes

This surgery is ideal for men and women who have:

  • Sagging or heavy upper eyelids
  • Bags under the eyes
  • A constantly tired or sad expression
  • Excess skin that impairs vision
  • Loss of skin elasticity due to aging or genetic factors

During your consultation, a thorough assessment of the face and eye area is performed. Key factors such as excess skin, fat deposits, eyelid muscle tone and eyebrow position are evaluated. The most suitable surgical approach is then outlined and explained step-by-step.

Eyelid surgery is performed under local anaesthetic with sedation. It usually takes between 30 and 90 minutes depending on the complexity of the case.

Incisions are placed along the natural folds of the eyelids, making them virtually invisible after healing. In some cases, where a more pronounced lifting effect is desired, alternative incision sites may be required. These are strategically placed to follow the anatomy of the eye area and heal very well due to the rich vascularity and elasticity of this region.

Excess skin and fat are removed, and fine sutures are placed and removed within a few days.

Recovery is generally quick. Swelling and bruising are expected during the first 5–7 days. Most patients return to normal daily activities within one week.

Results become noticeable after a few days and stabilize fully within 3–4 weeks.

Results typically last around 15 years, although individual outcomes may vary based on skin elasticity and other personal factors.

Will there be visible scars?

In most cases, scars are thin and nearly invisible, hidden within the natural folds of the eyelids.

Is the surgery painful?

No. It is performed under local anaesthetic with sedation. Post-operative discomfort is usually minimal.

When can I go back to work?

Most people return to work after about a week.

Will the results look natural?

Yes. When performed by a skilled surgeon, results are harmonious and do not alter facial expressions.

Can eyelid surgery be combined with a brow lift?

Yes. Depending on the anatomy and desired result, eyelid surgery can be combined with a brow lift to enhance the rejuvenation of the eye area. We also offer a minimally invasive “mini brow lift” for a subtle yet effective lifting effect of the eyebrows.
